"PITTSYLVANIA VINDICATORS"

SINCE 1896

Sons of Confederate Veterans

HERITAGE GROUP NOT HATE GROUP

The Sons of Confederate Veterans were organized in 1896 to honor and memorialize the principles, sacrifices and history of our ancestors. As you know our Southern Heritage is in jeopardy and we are the first line of defense in protecting our heritage. In saying that, we are a Heritage group not a Hate group. We try very hard to maintain being Southern Gentlemen and promoting a positive impression on our communities.

CHARGE TO THE SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS

"To you, Sons of Confederate Veterans, we will commit the vindication of the cause for which we fought. To your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the

emulation of his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles which he loved and which you love also, and those ideals which made him glorious and which you also cherish."

to preserve our history and heritage. Help us honor our ancestors and bring the true history of the Confederacy to the forefront of the American people.

WHAT WE DO

The SCV has ongoing programs at the local, state and national level. Preservation work, marking Confederate soldier's graves, historical reenactments, scholarly publications, and regular meetings to discuss the military and political history of the War Between the States are only a few of the activities sponsored by local camps. We also vigorously defend any and all attacks on our Confederate heritage.

HOW TO JOIN

Membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans is open to all male descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed forces. Membership can be obtained through either direct or collateral family lines, and kinship to a veteran must be documented using accepted standards of genealogy research. The minimum age for membership is 12. Not sure your Confederate ancestor, the SCV also has a network of genealogists to assist you in tracing your ancestor's Confederate service.
